49th Annual Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses General Meeting and Scientific Sessions

Dates: June 24-27 2018

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

For the 2018 CANN AGM and Scientific Sessions, the Nova Scotia Chapter of CANN is proud to invite all CANN members and professionals to experience the fresh sea air, vibrant culture, and upbeat night life of Halifax, Nova Scotia! Walk the waterfront boardwalk and explore an urban center with rural charm.

The conference will take place at the Atlantica Hotel Halifax that is close to downtown and local shopping streets with their respective historic attractions and exceptional culinary experiences. Let’s look forward to the inevitably inspirational scientific program, sure to be informational to both new and experienced practitioners. All neuroscience nurses and health care professionals are encouraged to contribute to the scientific program.

Deadline for abstract submissions: November 1, 2017

Requirements for preparing abstracts (paper, poster, or workshop):

1. On a single page, the abstract must describe the central theme of the paper, workshop or poster. Maximum length 200 words.

2. Type your name and the title of your abstract on the top of the page. The first author should be the person presenting the paper, workshop or poster. Submit a second copy of the abstract with the title only. Do not include any names on this second abstract, as a blind review process is used for abstract selection.

3. Indicate the following on the abstract page:

a. Intended level of audience (basic, advanced, or all participants).
b. Intended subspecialty (e.g., pediatrics, neurology, neurosurgery, neuro-critical care, etc.).
c. Preferred format/time guidelines for sessions.
i. Plenary – 60-90 minutes
ii. Concurrent – 30 minutes
iii. Workshop – 1-2 hours
iv. Poster – 10-15 minutes

4. Please send abstract submissions via email to include (to ensure unbiased consideration):
Microsoft Word files:
a. One file of the completed abstract with title and author
b. One file of the completed abstract with title only
c. One file with curriculum vitae for each presenter
d. One file with authors’ information and audiovisual requirements
e. Your return e-mail address

5. If you would like your abstract to be considered for one of the awards available, please indicate this with your initial submission.
- Canadian Journal of Neuroscience Nursing has the first right of refusal for the publication of the Mary Glover, Brain Tumor Foundation, and Medtronic Award papers presented at these scientific sessions.

- If the applicant is interested in being considered for any award or scholarship (see link below) please note this at the time of abstract submission.

Guidelines for Workshop Submissions:

Please include in abstract

1. The desired length of the workshop (1-2 hours);

2. The desired minimum and maximum number of workshop participants;

3. Learning objectives for the workshop;

4. AV equipment, room set-up, and other logistic requirements;

5. Handouts and/or any learning materials required are the responsibility of the workshop organizers.
