Duties:

The primary responsibility of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is to provide comprehensive direct patient care as a central member of the interdisciplinary team. The NP performs comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, intervention, management, referral, and evaluation of patient/client care across the continuum of health care services in an outpatient clinic setting. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research and clinical teaching opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Nursing or equivalent is required.
  • Expertise in assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment, and prescription of drugs is required.
  • Experience in Neurology is required.
  • A minimum of three years related clinical experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
  • The NP is responsible for ensuring that his/her registration is current, valid and entered on the NP Roster under the Health Professions Act.
  • Responsible to provide proof of active registration and a NP practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
