CANN Executive

Jill Kamensek

Jill Kamensek, President

I’ve been a neuroscience RN since 1987 when I graduated from the Vancouver General Hospital School of Nursing and began employment on the 20 bed neurology unit at VGH.  I’ve performed several clinical roles throughout the years, and since 2003 have been a patient care coordinator for the 70 bed neuroscience unit. I can’t imagine going any farther from the staff, patients and families.  The challenges and uncertainty in neuro maintain my interest, and the knowledge that this population requires competent, sensitive, specialized care, encourages me to lead the dedicated staff with enthusiasm.

I’ve been an active member of CANN since 1988, attending many conferences, presenting at several, and fulfilling various positions on the board of directors.  I have been active at the provincial level since I joined as well, sitting on the executive in every position over the years. I’ve maintained my certification in neuroscience since 1996.

I feel certain that CANN is a contributing factor to my longevity in this area.  The ability to meet like-minded individuals annually at the conferences never fails to recharge my battery.  I’m always proud to be associated with this group of learned, ambitious, driven, and FUN individuals.
