Manitoba CANN Report
May 2012
The Manitoba Chapter of CANN wants to wish everyone a very happy spring and summer.
We are pleased to say that our active recruitment of CANN members is slowly starting to take dividends. We continue to organize in services on topics that direct care providers had suggested with good turn out and positive responses. We had a Spring Workshop this year, discussing moral distress and residue when working with the neuroscience patient population. We then had a previous patient come and speak to us about his and his wife’s experience and what we did well and how we could do better. We had a great turn out with nurses from the intensive care, the neurosurgery unit, the neurology clinic, and the neurosurgery clinic but we also had nurse managers, nurse educators and physiotherapists. It was wonderful to have all of us sharing our experiences while dealing with neuroscience patients and how it impacts us. We have also worked on increasing our visibility and are hopefully to have some more Manitoba nurses in Ottawa.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Ottawa.
Cheers
