I graduated with my baccalaureate degree in 2002 and began my nursing career on the Neuroscience Unit at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. In 2005 I completed my masters in nursing and began teaching in the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2011 I transitioned to a research position in the college of medicine as a Neuro Endovascular Research Coordinator. In May of 2014 I accepted a position as a Clinical Nurse Specialist of the Saskatoon Stroke Program and in this role, was actively involved in creating and continuing to develop the Saskatchewan stroke pathway. In 2022, I completed my stroke nurse fellowship and achieved my board certification as an advanced neurovascular clinician. I currently serve on the ANVC Leadership Development Committee as well as the Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations Advisory Committee. My husband Sean and I live in Saskatoon Saskatchewan with our three lovely children Clive, Pierce and Maeve and our aussi doodle Sully. Fun Fact: my first name is Karen… I know it explains a lot
