Shane Ward BN, CNN(C), RN (She/Her)
Scientific Co-Chair
Shane has been a neuroscience nurse at the Montreal Neurological Hospital since 2011. She started her nursing career in neurocritical care and, in 2019, transitioned away from the bedside to the clinical nurse educator role on the neurocritical care, neurosurgery and stroke units. After the pandemic, she moved into ambulatory care and is now a nurse pivot in the neuro-oncology clinic. Shane presented a pilot project on implementing distress screening in a brain tumour clinic at the European Association of Neuroscience Nurses' Congress in 2023. This experience inspired her to pursue her Master's of Nursing and is currently doing a graduate certificate in palliative care through the University of Calgary. Shane is committed to strengthening the focus on early implementation of palliative care and improving psychosocial follow-up for patients with primary brain tumours and their families.
